The
Doggersbank
Legend
Doggersbank is a story of seaworthy endurance. The rugged offshore design, named after a large sandbank in a shallow area of the North Sea and brought to life by Vripack founder Dick Boon in 1968, remains exciting to adventure-seeking owners around the world.
Â
The pocket-sized explorerâs robust pedigree derives from its design characteristics. The high bow for traversing rough waters and ample tank capacity for long distance exploration. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, a Doggersbank is a true seafaring ambassador of Dutch quality and precision naval architecture.
Â
Today, the Doggersbank Offshore build package gifts clients the chance to own a new build based on an existing platform, with the benefit of shorter lead times, proven performance and safety records, and fully updated systems.

The essence of Doggersbank

A core component of the Doggersbank design is the full displacement round bilge hull shape and a high flared bow for dry sailing. The steel hull and aluminium superstructure enable the sturdy boat to punch through waves. The round bilge with a full belly provides large volume, gifting generous interior spaces below deck for guest accommodation and storage, with gentle movements at sea.
The large angle stability has (exponentially) more energy to âpushâ the yacht upright, compared to a yacht with a higher initial stability.

Aside from comfort, the strength of the steel hull and lightweight nature of the aluminium superstructure twinned with the optimised hull guarantee stability and safety when underway. The flare in the bow softens pitch and roll and prevents waves splashing over the bow, building redundancy into the boat.
30% less roll because of the steel/alu construction, compared to constructions made in aluminium or GRP only.

The displacement hull enables the Doggersbank to easily achieve maximum speeds, therefore diminishing the need for heavy engines. Efficient cruising speeds also reduce fuel consumption, therefore increasing range, even for long distance voyages.
Because of Approx. 25% more tank volume and 25cm more floor area per side, of the steel/alu construction, compared to constructions made in aluminium or GRP only, more comfort and tank volume are incorporated in the design.
